Back to "normal"

I am back now....steady.
God....this is how astronauts must feel after coming back to earth from a space shuttle. The deafness that follows when actually there hasn't been any noise for a very, very long time. The astronaut steps out of the shuttle, and goes back in. The sudden burst of the bubble of isolation isn't tolerable either. Suddenly, the disquiet, the mind numbing speed of the shuttle seemed more peaceful than the warm welcome back home. Gravity. It just pulls you down. you  have to train long and hard to live in zero gravity condition, because you liked to keep your feet firm on the ground. And after a few days of floating, the gravity back on earth just seems like an unnecessary nuisance.
It's so typical of humans to readily acclimatize to anything, literally anything, no matter how sure they are of it's temporariness. Just the side effects of evolution I guess. We learn to adapt to any condition which gives us the edge for survival. But, it also blurs our realms of perspectives at times.
For now, this is software developer Nachiket Naik, just out of training capsule, signing off, over and out.

My creations

I have always had a passion for drawing and sketching. There's something about the creative satisfaction in it that gets me going. I don't really save them or I'd have a room full of sketches. It's kind of funny that the paintings are important to me only till I am still making them. For me it's just about the narcotic moment of creating something. Presenting a few of my creations...

Top 10 movies, I haven't watched

Ssup guys?

I love watching a good movie. I am amongst those who want to watch a good movie, without breaks. I don't watch a movie thats already started and I've missed the first few minutes. It just throws the whole movie experience off balance. So, imaginably, I've missed out on a few good movies because whenever there's that good movie that I've been dying to watch running on T.V. , I've mostly missed out on the start and hence end up not watching it. So, here are the TOP 10 MOVIES that I do so really want to watch but never got around to it :

1. Star Wars : Want to know what about this movie got movie buffs and geeks at war

2. Inception : Missed out on watching this one in the theatres. Exams....

3. Godfather : Honestly, a bit too old movie for me. Like the "Grandfather" of all movies

4. Forrest Gump : Strangely, rarely find a DVD for this one.

5.Indiana Jones : I know he isn't Indian.;-). Lost this one at the ark.

6. Toy Story: Really want to know what the "Buzz" is all about.

7. Bourne Series : I really do want to watch this one.

8. Saving private Ryan : Have been saving up to watch this one.

9. Monty Python and the Holy Grail : Heard it's the holy grail of all comedy movies.

10. Sound of music : Eager to watch and hear it.

Okay, so I do agree, it's really sad that I haven't seen these. It's a shame really. And I know that this will attract flak from all movie lovers and even anger a few. I really am sorry and do wish to watch these wonderful movies. But, I had my reasons :
  • Not much time from studies and ... well stuff.
  • Some of them are really old and before my time.
  • I missed out on watching the beginning of a few of them and hence ended up ignoring them.
  • Someone's got to watch the crappy movies too you know.
  • ....Okay, what am I saying...I've got to watch them!!!
Do let me know which all time best movie you've been missing out on?

Pride, Prejudice and Pretention

Hi folks, my first blog and its a nervous attempt. The assumption being, its going to be sloppy. So, no point lingering on it, so here goes. Oh, and how you doin'?;-)

I am an avid reader. Not voracious as I used to be. But occasionally I love the good read. I was just thinking, if Jane Austen was alive today, man she would've written a trilogy at least of the Pride and Prejudice. Because, man o man, does our world today run on Pride, Prejudice and Pretension. Everywhere, homes, offices, college, school, its all over. I have come to believe that we let these three P's rule our lives more than we account for.

Lets take today for example. Me and my classmate live pretty close. With the distance that our college is from home, and the fact that fuel prices are never going to go down EVER, we share a ride, each picks up the other on alternate days. So, there I am waiting for her to come pick me up.(Oh and the other P - Punctuality died around the beginning of 21st century.RIP. ) This obviously meant we had only 15 mins to reach a place that takes 30 mins to reach. Let me tell you folks, I'm a way safe rider. So, halfway down the distance, she tells me "Feel like I'm in a bullock cart". Yeah, I get it, to reach a place in less time, gotta drive fast eh....sure common sense. But Pride took over. I drove so fast, so furious that we nearly missed knocking a few vehicles and a stray dog over. Coz a guy's got too much pride to hear something like that. Guys don't want to hear that they are slow and girls don't like to hear they are fat. Pride.

So, we are doing a software project for our final years and we have to meet up with an external guide, who at the end of the semester grades us. We are stuck at a critical point and have banged our heads enough without luck. We arrange a meeting with the guide to see if he can "guide" us to a way out of the problem. Now, our guide, though a quiet and ration-able guy, always gives us the creeps. Something about him just scares us and we end up tongue tied. He doesn't yell or scold us as such. Yet, its just unnerving to talk to someone who speaks to the point, in contrast to our loving caring professors. So, we go meet him, all tensed. However, when we finally do meet him, we are a jumbled group. We don't have our work in order. To show him the problem,  we forgot to bring the problem along. If we really are so scared, you'd think we'd be better prepared when we meet him. Nope, we are all fumbling to tell him the problem. I doubt he gathered even a bit of what we were speaking or what the problem is. However, the guy still listens to us calmly and talks reasonably. Is he really as scary as we think? Are we really as scared? Prejudice.

There and then, I wink to my friends which meant "We screwed up big time in not being ready with the problem. Now just hear him out and pretend we haven't tried what he's telling us to do.( we've tried it)". He suggests us a method to go forward, we nod sincerely. "Yeah. We haven't tired that. we'll surely try it now and let you know. Thanks". Pretention.
